“The greatest sign of success for a teacher… is to be able to say
‘The children are now working as if I did not exist.’”

~ Maria Montesorri, Italian Physician and Educator (1870-1952)

Individual and small group projects are an integral part of the sixth grade experience. These projects allow students to strengthen learning by implementing skills creatively, to demonstrate mastery, and to share their knowledge with others. Every project has specific guidelines and requirements, but students will often innovate and exceed expectations. In the best cases, despite the difficulties of cooperating with a group toward a common goal, students will work as though the teacher does not exist.

Here you will find directions, grade sheets or scoring rubrics, and pictures of finished creations for most of the projects.
